Derek Katzenbach, G.J.G. (GIA)
Derek Katzenbach is a custom jeweler, lapidary and gemologist living in the western mountains of Maine with his wife Laura, son Kyran, and daughter Scarlett.
Katzenbach creates one of a kind designs from start to finish, generally using vivid colored gemstones and playing with reflections in his work. In 2016 he won “Best use of Color” in the AGTA Spectrum awards for a bicolor tourmaline ring that now resides in the GIA collection in Carlsbad, CA. In 2017 Katzenbach won 1st place for his “Colors of Maine” Kaleidoscope, featuring the very best colors of Maine tourmaline set in 18kt gold. These pieces are on permanent display at the GIA headquarters in Carlsbad, CA.
