Kornerupine is a rare born-silicate mineral that is very rarely found in gem grade. It is highly pleochroic, and cut gems will often show more than one color when carefully observed. This Kornerupine is a beautiful bright green color, and shows a small bit of secondary blue, making for a very minty green hue. The gem is very clean, with a few tiny natural inclusions not easily visible without a 10x loupe.
This Kornerupine is faceted in my “Testudo” brilliant oval design and is extremely brilliant in the hand. The gem weighs 0.81 carats and measures 6.3 x 4.8 x 4.0 mm.
