This Montana sapphire is a gorgeous bright sky blue color with no hint of green; it could also be called a light cornflower blue. The color was developed by having the sapphire heated in Montana–but that is the only treatment it has had. The heating not only deepened the color, but it also improved the clarity–the gem is bright and lively in the hand. It has a few small inclusions that are just barely visible in the hand, but have factored them into the pricing, making it a great value for the size and color.
This sapphire is faceted in my “Helena” brilliant oval design which I created and optimized for Montana sapphire; the design is named after the capital of Montana. The result is a sparkling gem weighing 0.82 carats and measuring 6.1 x 5.0 x 3.6 mm. This would make a lovely center stone for a very unique engagement ring.
