This pretty little unheated Montana sapphire is an uncommon color–a light greenish yellow. The macro image is like the view through a 10x loupe and shows a few tiny inclusions, but they are almost impossible to see in the hand and are only visible with a 10x loupe. In the hand the gemstone is very bright and lively and eye clean.
This sapphire has been faceted in my own modified version of the diamond round brilliant cut, one that I’ve specifically optimized for sapphire to produce the desired “hearts and arrows” effect. The result is a scintillating gem, perfect for an engagement ring. It weighs 0.89 carats and measures 5.7 x 3.7 mm.
