This beautiful unheated Montana sapphire a very unusual and rare color for Montana: an light pink with a faint violet hue to it. I’ve only seen a handful of Montana sapphires with this hue. The gem has a very light amount of rutile silk that just slightly softens the brilliance, but the silk is not visible in the hand without a 10x loupe. The gem is very bright and flashy in the hand.
This sapphire is faceted in my modified version of the diamond round brilliant cut, optimized for sapphire and cut to “hearts and arrows” level of precision; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. The gem weighs 1.03 carats and measures 5.9 x 3.9 mm. It would make an amazing center stone for a unique and one-of-a-kind engagement ring.
