This gorgeous unheated Ceylon sapphire is a beautiful rich cornflower blue–one of the most desirable hues for a sapphire. Sri Lanka (formerly called Ceylon) is famous for its gemstones, especially sapphires. The government has maintained regulation over mining to prevent large-scale environmentally destructive mining from occurring, encouraging small-scale artisanal mining. This sapphire was acquired directly from a mine owner in Sri Lanka and selected for maximum beauty and brilliance.
This sapphire appears to be nearly flawless. There are no visible inclusions, even when examined with a 10x loupe. The sapphire is faceted in a square cushion design; the resulting gemstone is a glittering beauty! The sapphire weighs 1.21 carats and measures 6.1 x 5.5 x 3.8 mm.
