This beautiful unheated Montana sapphire is a gorgeous bright blue color, with just a faint touch of green to the blue. I call these sapphires “Peacock Blue” as the color is reminiscent of the feathers of a peacock. There is a very light amount of natural rutile silk in this sapphire (proof of its natural unheated status) but its only visible at certain angles and it doesn’t effect the brilliance of the gem in any way.
This sapphire is faceted in my modified version of the diamond round brilliant cut, optimized for sapphire and cut to “hearts and arrows” level of precision; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. The gem weighs 1.36 carats and measures 6.5 x 4.3 mm. It would make an amazing center stone for a unique and one-of-a-kind engagement ring.
