This beautiful heated Montana sapphire is a unique combination of two colors, blue and yellow. The gem shows flashes of the two colors, creating a “particolored” effect. The color was developed by heating the gem in Montana, but no other treatments were made to the gem. The treatment is permanent and stable and not only develops the color, but also improves the clarity. This sapphire appears to be nearly flawless. There are no visible inclusions, even when examined with a 10x loupe.
I faceted this sapphire in my “Sparkling Snowflake” custom hexagon design; the resulting gemstone is a glittering beauty. It weighs 1.74 carats and measures 7.8 mm across the points, 7.1 mm across the flats, and is 4.6 mm deep. This gem would make a stunning and unique engagement ring.
