This gorgeous bright orange spessartite garnet is typical for this gem variety and locality–there’s a moderate amount of bubble inclusions called “sugar” in the trade as well as a few small feathers. The macro image makes them look worse than they do in the hand as face up the gem is quite bright and flashy, but I have factored them into the price, making it a good value. The rough comes from Loliondo, Tanzania which is known for its fine spessartine garnet.
This garnet has been faceted in my “Helena” custom brilliant oval design and the resulting gem is very bright in the hand, like a little fireball of orange. It weighs 2.35 carats and measures 8.2 x 6.8 x 5.3 mm.
