This all-natural sapphire from the El Dorado Bar in Montana is light sky blue color often found in the sapphires from this location. The gem is slighly included with natural rutile “silk” but it does not detract from its beauty in the hand–the photo makes it appear far more prominent than your eye can see–I’d rate the gem as eye clean or VVS in clarity. I faceted it in a modified version of the diamond round brilliant cut, one that I’ve specifically optimized for some of the thinner sapphire rough from this location. The result is a gorgeous gem, perfect for an engagement ring. It is quite large for a Montana sapphire–it weighs 2.42 carats and measures 8.20 x 4.57 mm.
