This gorgeous garnet is a beautiful pink-peach color–a very uncommon color in garnets. The garnet comes from a recent find outside Mahenge, Tanzania. The majority of the garnets in this find are darker shades of pink to purple–only a very small percentage is this gorgeous peach-pink color. These garnets are in very limited and diminishing supply and the prices for the rough have increased dramatically in recent months. They have outstanding brilliance and dispersion that gives them a beautiful fire in the hand.
This gem is very clean, with just two small rutile crystal inclusions; the high clarity makes it a scintillating gemstone in the hand. I faceted it my custom “Testudo” brilliant oval design, cut to high precision. The gem weighs 2.79 carats, and measures 8.8 x 6.6 x 5.8 mm.
