Description
Most people are familiar with the purple of amethyst, or the yellow of citrine–both types of quartz. Very rarely the two occur together in the same crystal, and in that case the gem is called ametrine–and properly faceted it can be absolutely beautiful. Most of the best gem ametrine comes from the Anahí mine in Bolivia–the source of this gem. It’s a completely natural gem–beware as most of the inexpensive more intensely-colored ametrine seen in the market is actually man-made.
This absolutely gorgeous ametrine was faceted by the late master gem cutter Stephen Kotlowski. Stephen cut this in one of his one-of-a-kind cuts he was famous for–he cut without a design, creating the design on the fly as he worked with the rough. This is what he would have called a “Uniquely K Brilliant Oval” design. Stephen’s cut blends the purple and yellow to create facets that flash pink, while others flash the purple and yellows. It weighs a whopping 22.11 carats and measures 20.18 x 18.16 x 12.35 mm.

Video Request
Although we do our best to take the highest quality images, sometimes it can be difficult to envision how it will look on your hand. We can take a video of up to four gems side by on the hand to help you compare them and see how they perform in daylight. Please provide the following information, and include the SKU numbers or links to the stones you would like to see a video of.
Please note that we don’t do 360-degree videos as colored gems are optimized to be viewed face up, and because the current technology is such that none of the 360-degree systems we have tested provides the accurate color. Our desire is to present the most honest and accurate color possible!
