This is a large clean kunzite from Afghanistan. I had this material faceted for me in Brazil, where it was also treated by Cobalt-60 and then heated to anneal the color. This deepened the pink-purple color slightly, although not as much as I hoped. The color has been stable for a year now, so it is unlikely to fade any further unless exposed to bright sunlight for an extended period of time. Like all kunzite, it should be treated as an “evening gem” and kept from exposure to bright light. It measures 16.69 x 16.64 x 12.62 mm.
