This incredible heated Montana sapphire is gorgeous aqua blue color–reminiscent of a fine gem aquamarine. The gem shows flashes of blue and green-blue as its held in the hand–an effect that is somewhat visible in the macro image. While there is one small feather tucked off to the edge, the gem otherwise has incredible natural clarity and combined with the cutting it makes for an incredibly brilliant and scintillating gem in the hand. I have factored the feathers into the price, making this an excellent value for the size, color and rarity.
This sapphire is faceted in a modified version of the classic diamond round brilliant design that is optimized for sapphire and cut to “hearts and arrows” precision; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. The gem weighs 3.86 carats and measures 9.4 x 6.1 mm; the perfect size for an engagement ring. Only a handful of sapphires are mined in Montana each year that are large enough to facet a gem of this size, making this a real rarity.
