Swiss “alpine” smoky quartz is famed for its beautiful color and amazing clarity. This smoky quartz was faceted from a crystal collected by Hans Rufibach at the famed “Rufibach Cleft” in Zinggenstöcke, Bern, Switzerland. The unique provenance make this a true collector’s gemstone. The gem has a wonderful orange-brown color and weighs 35.30 carats, and measures 22.9 mm in diameter. I cut it in Willie Klaja’s “Floralating” design, a hexagon design that I chose because it matched the natural outline of the original piece of crystal.
