This beautiful heated Montana sapphire is a rich blue-green to teal color–one of my favorite hues found in the Montana sapphires. The color was developed by heating the gem in Montana, but no other treatments were made to the gem. The treatment is permanent and stable and not only develops the color, but also improves the clarity. There is one tiny inclusion just barely visible in the macro image, but its not visible in the hand without a 10x loupe–its an eye clean gemstone. The zoning visible in the photo is also not visible in the hand–it all blends to one uniform color in person. Sapphires from Montana rarely reach this size–this is very large for this locale.
This sapphire is faceted in my custom “Helena” oval brilliant design that has been optimized for sapphire; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. The gem weighs 4.32 carats and measures 10.4 x 8.6 x 6.4 mm. It would make an amazing center stone for a unique and one-of-a-kind engagement ring!
