Description
This gorgeous bright bubblegum pink tourmaline comes from the famed Stewart Mine in Pala, California. Originally discovered near the turn the 20th century, this mine produced large quantities of tourmaline for the Chinese market in the early 1900’s. In more recent years it’s been largely closed with only sporadic working by the current mine owner. The tourmaline from the Stewart mine is renowned for it’s bright pink color, but typically has minor inclusions and rarely is found in large gem pieces, such as this one. While this tourmaline has slight inclusions that are just barely visible to the naked eye, it looks much cleaner in person than the photo would imply. The inclusions have been factored into the price, making this a great value for the size and color.
This tourmaline is faceted in a custom brilliant rectangle cushion design; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. The gem weighs 7.83 carats and measures 11.9 x 9.9 x 8.8 mm. It would make for an impressive ring or beautiful pendant.
