This lovely unheated sapphire comes from Umba, Tanzania. The color is a beautiful golden yellow and is consistent even as the lighting changes. While the macro image shows some rutile silk in the gem, this is not visible without a loupe; its an eye clean gemstone and its very bright and lively in the hand. The gem is faceted in a classic oval design; it weighs 1.38 carats and measures 8.0 x 6.0 x 3.8 mm.
