This beautiful heated Montana sapphire shows flashes of green and yellow as its held in the hand because of zones of each color–sapphires like this are referred to as “parti-colored” in the trade. The sapphire was heated in Montana to develop the color and improve the clarity; the treatment is permanent and stable. This gem has good clarity, with just a few tiny feathers. They are far less prominent in the hand than the macro photo implies, and do not effect the durability of the stone in any way. I have factored them into the price, making this gem a good value for the size and color.
This sapphire is faceted in my custom “Testudo” oval brilliant design that I’ve designed and optimized for sapphire; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. The gem weighs 1.42 carats and measures 7.4 x 5.5 x 4.5 mm. It would make an amazing center stone for a unique and one-of-a-kind engagement ring.
