Description
This gorgeous unheated Ceylon sapphire is a unique mix of blue and green and even a few flashes of yellow. Multicolored sapphires such as this one are referred to as particolored in the gem trade. Sri Lanka (formerly called Ceylon) is famous for its gemstones, especially sapphires. The government has maintained regulation over mining to prevent large-scale environmentally destructive mining from occurring, encouraging small-scale artisanal mining. This sapphire was acquired directly from a mine owner in Sri Lanka and selected for maximum beauty and brilliance. The sapphire has some inclusions, including one feather that can be seen without magnification. I have factored that into the price, making this a great value for the size and color.
The sapphire was originally cut in Sri Lanka but has been recut to improve the brilliance; it’s now classic oval shape. It weighs 1.87 carats and measures 8.4 x 6.4 x 4.1 mm. It would make the perfect gem for a unique engagement ring!

Video Request
Although we do our best to take the highest quality images, sometimes it can be difficult to envision how it will look on your hand. We can take a video of up to four gems side by on the hand to help you compare them and see how they perform in daylight. Please provide the following information, and include the SKU numbers or links to the stones you would like to see a video of.
Please note that we don’t do 360-degree videos as colored gems are optimized to be viewed face up, and because the current technology is such that none of the 360-degree systems we have tested provides the accurate color. Our desire is to present the most honest and accurate color possible!
