Description
Kornerupine is a rare born-silicate mineral that is very rarely found in gem grade. It is highly pleochroic, and cut gems will often show more than one color when carefully observed. While most Kornerupine is typically a brownish or yellowish-green color, some of the finest and rarest are shades of blue-green, blue or even violet. In the last few years there has been limited production of Kornerupine in these rarer colors from the Manyara region in Tanzania, which is where the rough for this gem was mined. This Kornerupine is a beautiful pale mint green color, and shows a small bit of secondary violet-blue pleochroism. This gem has excellent clarity, making it bright and scintillating in the hand. There may be tiny inclusions that are visible only with a 10x loupe.
This Kornerupine is faceted in our custom “Hyperbola” brilliant oval design and is extremely bright and scintillating in the hand. The gem weighs 2.14 carats and measures 8.7 x 7.4 x 5.4 mm. Kornerupine is typically quite small, and gems over one carat are very rare–at over two carats this is a very rare gemstone indeed.

Video Request
Although we do our best to take the highest quality images, sometimes it can be difficult to envision how it will look on your hand. We can take a video of up to four gems side by on the hand to help you compare them and see how they perform in daylight. Please provide the following information, and include the SKU numbers or links to the stones you would like to see a video of.
Please note that we don’t do 360-degree videos as colored gems are optimized to be viewed face up, and because the current technology is such that none of the 360-degree systems we have tested provides the accurate color. Our desire is to present the most honest and accurate color possible!
