Description
This beautiful tourmaline is a unique green-toned golden yellow color. The gem rough this was cut from was sourced from the famous Himalaya Mine in Mesa Grande, California. The Himalaya is famed for its great variety of tourmalines, including spectacular green and red bicolored gems. However, they are becoming more difficult to find as the mine has been closed from active mining for several decades, with just occasional small-scale hand mining occurring. This gem was cut from a small parcel of rough I acquired from one the miners who is part of this recent work; it was part of his “miners cut” of the finds. It has very small inclusions that are quite difficult to see with the unaided eye from a normal viewing distance. The inclusions have been factored into the price, making this a great value for the size and color.
This tourmaline is extremely clean for a California tourmaline. With the exception of a tiny inclusion tucked off on one side of the pavilion it is flawless; that inclusion is only visible with a 10x loupe. I faceted it in my custom “Helena” brilliant oval design; the result is a richly colored and beautifully brilliant gemstone. The gem weighs 3.25 carats and measures 9.9 x 8.3 x 7.7 mm.

Video Request
Although we do our best to take the highest quality images, sometimes it can be difficult to envision how it will look on your hand. We can take a video of up to four gems side by on the hand to help you compare them and see how they perform in daylight. Please provide the following information, and include the SKU numbers or links to the stones you would like to see a video of.
Please note that we don’t do 360-degree videos as colored gems are optimized to be viewed face up, and because the current technology is such that none of the 360-degree systems we have tested provides the accurate color. Our desire is to present the most honest and accurate color possible!
