Description
This beautiful sapphire comes from Kaduna, Nigeria. The deposit at Kaduna is what’s known as a basaltic deposit, so most of the sapphires found there are very deeply-colored and tend to be shades of blue-green. The color of this gem is a very rich deep blue tinted with green. In low light it can appear very dark but shows flashes of deep blue; in daylight and brighter light it is a gorgeous deep blue showing flashes of bright blue. There is a slight amount of natural silver rutile silk in one corner that is only visible at certain angles and in certain lighting–proof positive that its natural and untreated. This sapphire has very small inclusions that are quite difficult to see with the unaided eye from a normal viewing distance.
Faceted in our custom “Triptych” trillion design, this sapphire is fairly large at 4.73 carats; it measures 9.6 x 9.6 x 6.8 mm. It would make a superb center stone for a unique ring or pendant.

Video Request
Although we do our best to take the highest quality images, sometimes it can be difficult to envision how it will look on your hand. We can take a video of up to four gems side by on the hand to help you compare them and see how they perform in daylight. Please provide the following information, and include the SKU numbers or links to the stones you would like to see a video of.
Please note that we don’t do 360-degree videos as colored gems are optimized to be viewed face up, and because the current technology is such that none of the 360-degree systems we have tested provides the accurate color. Our desire is to present the most honest and accurate color possible!
