Jewelry Care & Cleaning
To keep your jewelry as beautiful as the day you receive it, it is important to keep up with daily care and maintenance. Below we have outlined our recommendations and tips for keeping your pieces sparkling!

Daily Care
Sapphires are very durable (both hard and tough), but they can still be chipped or scratched if you do not exercise care when wearing them. In addition, gold and platinum are malleable metals, and can be scratched or even bent if you are not careful. Always remove your jewelry when undertaking vigorous activities, including but not limited to exercising, gardening, hiking, using household cleaning products, and lifting heavy objects.
In addition, you always want to remove your jewelry when doing activities involving water, including washing hands, doing dishes, swimming, showering; as well as when using any personal care or cosmetic products such as lotions, makeup, and hairspray. These activities can deposit difficult-to-clean residues on your jewelry and dull the appearance of your gems. It is especially important to remove gold jewelry before using a chlorinated hot tub or swimming pool, as chlorine can damage the gold alloys used in your jewelry.
At Home Cleaning
You can maintain your jewelry with our Earth’s Treasury cleaning solution, which is included with most jewelry purchases, or with warm water and a mild soap.
We recommend that you clean your jewelry once a week by soaking it in the cleaning solution for at least 15 minutes— ideally soak it overnight. You can then gently brush the piece with the included brush or an extra-soft bristled toothbrush. Don’t be shy about getting the bristles up under the stone— this is where any dirt or residue can have the biggest impact on dulling the appearance of your gemstone. The video below guides you through the whole cleaning process.
It is not recommended to use professional-grade cleaners or an ultrasonic cleaning device without professional assistance. Doing so will void the warranty as repeated ultrasonic cleaning can loosen gemstones and cause them to fall out.
Taking good care of your jewelry and cleaning it regularly will ensure that it lasts a lifetime and maintains the sparkle and brilliance you love.
Regular Maintenance
We recommend having your jewelry professionally cleaned and inspected once a year. This can be performed locally, or we can provide a complimentary service (exclusive of shipping fees). These inspections can help prevent the loss of stones caused by normal wear and keep your piece looking its best.
