Description
Rose quartz is typically seen as cabochons or carvings as its typically cloudy and often included with veils. Very little rose quartz has the clarity and transparency required to facets a gorgeous gemstone. The finest gem-grade rose quartz has come from Brazil and Madagascar; this rough comes from an older find in Madagascar. I acquired the rough from an old lapidary who had bought it over 30 years ago. The clarity and color of this gem is outstanding for rose quartz–a gorgeous pink color with just a bit of a soft glow to it.
I faceted this gem in a custom brilliant rectangle design I created for quartz that has excellent brilliance and flash in the hand. It would make an amazing large ring or pendant or it could be kept as a collector’s gem. It weighs 11.53 carats and measures 15.12 x 12.72 mm.
