This lovely unheated Montana sapphire is a gorgeous blue-green color, similar to a gem aquamarine. Like many Montana sapphires, this sapphire can shift color, appearing more blue-green in daylight and fluorescent light and shifting to a more silvery-blue under incandescent light. This particular sapphire has some very minor natural inclusions visible in the macro image, but they are not visible in the hand without a 10x loupe; its an eye clean gemstone and very bright and flashy in the hand.
This sapphire is faceted in a custom brilliant oval design that I created just for Montana sapphire. I’ve named the design “Testudo” as the facet pattern of the crown reminds me of a tortoise’s shell. The gem weighs 1.02 carats and measures 6.3 x 4.9 x 4.1 mm. It would make the perfect gem for a unique engagement ring!
