This is a rarity for Montana–a colorless or white sapphire. While many Montana sapphires can be very pale, they still have some color. This stone lacks any color and is a pure white. There is sone small feather that has some oxide staining but its tucked way off in a corner and is nearly invisible without a loupe. Regardless, it will be hidden by a prong when the gem is set.
I faceted this sapphire in my “Helena” brilliant oval design; the resulting gemstone is very bright in the hand. It weighs 1.15 carats and measures 6.2 x 5.3 x 4.1 mm; the perfect size for an engagement ring.
