Description
This heated ruby is a gorgeous vivid, saturated red described by GIA as “pigeon’s blood red”. It shows indications of heat treatment; heat treatment is permanent and stable and not only develops the color, but also improves the clarity. The gem was upcycled from a vintage piece of jewelry, and based on gemological evidence, it is from Burma. This gem has very small inclusions that are quite difficult to see with the unaided eye from a normal viewing distance. The inclusions have been factored into the price, making this a great value for the size and color.
The ruby has been recut in the United States to improve the brilliance; it is faceted in a classic round design and cut to high precision. It weighs 1.26 carats and measures 6.4-6.3 x 4.0 mm.
