Description
The most well-known grossular garnets are the famed and highly desirable rich green Tsavorite garnets, but grossular can also be found in a range of peach, yellow, orange and lighter green hues— and occasionally as the very rare colorless “leucogarnets.” Because of their lighter colors, they will often show flashes of dispersion in the hand, giving them extra sparkle.
This garnet is a gorgeous bright orange color. The gem is 100 percent natural and untreated in any way. It was cut from rough sourced from the famed Jeffrey Mine in Asbestos, Quebec, Canada— faceted garnets from the Jeffrey Mine are quite rare. This gem has very small inclusions that are quite difficult to see with the unaided eye from a normal viewing distance. The inclusions have been factored into the price, making this a great value for the size and color.
This garnet was faceted in the United States in our “Testudo” brilliant oval design and cut to high precision; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. The gem weighs 1.27 carats and measures 7.3 x 5.5 x 4.6 mm.
