Description
This unheated Ceylon sapphire is a rare color change gem: it’s a bluish violet purple under daylight (first photo), while under incandescent light, the color changes to a warmer purple (second photo). The gem is 100 percent natural and untreated in any way. This sapphire was acquired directly from a reputable gem dealer, and based on gemological evidence, it is from Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka (formerly called Ceylon) is famous for its gemstones, especially sapphires. The government has maintained regulation over mining to prevent large-scale environmentally destructive mining from occurring, encouraging small-scale artisanal mining. The sapphire has extremely small inclusions that are quite difficult to see with the unaided eye from a normal viewing distance. The inclusions have been factored into the price, making this a great value for the size and color.
The sapphire was faceted outside the United States in a classic rectangle cushion design. The gem weighs 1.51 carats and measures 7.9 x 5.6 x 3.6 mm.
This sapphire also has a GIA sapphire origin report included; the report number is 2231894587; a photo of the report is attached.

Although we do our best to take the highest quality images, sometimes it can be difficult to envision how it will look on your hand. We can take a video of up to four gems side by on the hand to help you compare them and see how they perform in daylight. Please provide the following information, and include the SKU numbers or links to the stones you would like to see a video of.
Please note that we don’t do 360-degree videos as colored gems are optimized to be viewed face up, and because the current technology is such that none of the 360-degree systems we have tested provides the accurate color. Our desire is to present the most honest and accurate color possible!
