A beautiful rich bluish green Madagascar sapphire in a custom coffin-shaped design, 2.44 carats.

Description
This sapphire is a gorgeous rich green with hints of blue. While it does not show any obvious signs of heat treatment, we presume it has been treated and the gem is priced accordingly. Heat treatment is permanent and stable and not only develops the color, but also improves the clarity. The gem was upcycled from a vintage piece of jewelry, and based on gemological evidence, we believe it is from Madagascar. The sapphire has very small inclusions that are quite difficult to see with the unaided eye from a normal viewing distance. There is also a slight haze to the gem from undissolved rutile silk that gives the gem a soft glow. The inclusions and haze have been factored into the price, making this a great value for the size and color.
The sapphire has been recut in the United States to improve the brilliance; it is faceted in a custom coffin-shaped design and cut to high precision. The gem weighs 2.44 carats and measures 9.2 x 8.6 x 4.5 mm.
