Description
This sapphire is a gorgeous rich blue, one of the finest shades of blue found in gemstones. It shows indications of heat treatment; heat treatment is permanent and stable and not only develops the color, but also improves the clarity. The gem was upcycled from a vintage piece of jewelry, and based on gemological evidence, we believe it is from Madagascar. The sapphire has excellent clarity, making it bright and scintillating in the hand. There may be tiny inclusions that are visible only with a 10x loupe.
The sapphire has been recut in the United States to improve the brilliance; it is faceted in a custom oval design and cut to high precision. The gem weighs 2.63 carats and measures 10.0 x 7.0 x 4.5 mm.
This sapphire also has a GIA gemological report included; the report number is 2231989611; a photo of the report is attached.
