This remarkable rich blue-green tourmaline comes from the recent finds in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We work to source this rough directly from the small-scale artisanal miners at this new find, and have selected only some of the largest and finest pieces of tourmaline mined there. This gem was cut from a gorgeous elongate crystal, so a design was chosen that would roll and flash the rich color the length of the gem as it is held in the hand. It has to be seen in person for the effect to be truly appreciated. The gem is extremely clean with no inclusions except one tiny fine tube, visible as a fine line on the photo, but all but impossible to see in person without a loupe.
This tourmaline is faceted in a custom rectangle design; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. The gem weighs 26.68 carats and measures 25.1 x 11.7 x 10.9 mm. It would make for an impressive centerpiece pendant or simply appreciated as a collector’s gemstone.
