Description
Tanzanite is the trade name for deep blue to blue-purple Zoisite that is found in only one location on the earth–the hills of Merelani, Tanzania. We heat-treat our own Tanzanite here in our office, after cutting the unheated natural rough. The heat treatment is permanent and stable; nearly 100% of all Tanzanite sold has been subject to this heat treatment. This gem is a beautiful vivid blue-toned violet color. It has excellent clarity, making it bright and scintillating in the hand. There may be tiny inclusions that are visible only with a 10x loupe.
This Tanzanite was personally faceted in the United States by Jeffrey Hapeman in our “Stella” brilliant square cushion design and cut to high precision; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. The gem weighs 40.58 carats and measures 20.1 x 14.2 mm. This Tanzanite would make for a fine collector’s gemstone!
