The “Astrea” Ring with 1.48-Carat Cornflower Blue Ceylon Sapphire (Heated)

This “Astrea” ring features dainty hand engraving for a starlight or sun-ray effect. This ring comes complete with a 1.48-carat Ceylon sapphire. It also includes eight (8) 1mm round diamonds, with G+ color and VS clarity, and averaging an approximate total of 0.04 carats.

This Ceylon sapphire is a beautiful cornflower blue–one of the most desirable hues for a sapphire. It shows indications of heat treatment; heat treatment is permanent and stable and not only develops the color, but also improves the clarity. It was sourced directly from a mine owner in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka (formerly called Ceylon) is famous for its gemstones, especially sapphires. The government has maintained regulation over mining to prevent large-scale environmentally destructive mining from occurring, encouraging small-scale artisanal mining. This gem has very small inclusions that are quite difficult to see with the unaided eye from a normal viewing distance. The inclusions have been factored into the price, making this a great value for the size and color.The sapphire was faceted outside the United States in our modified version of the classic diamond round brilliant design, optimized for sapphire and cut to “hearts-and-arrows” precision. It weighs 1.48 carats and measures 6.5 x 4.8 mm.

This “Astrea” ring is made from platinum 950, and while it is currently US size 6.5, it can be resized from approximately size 5 to size 7. Please allow approximately one week for shipping if resizing is required.
