Finding Your Ring Size

If your partner is not involved in the ring shopping process, there are a few discreet ways to determine their size:

  • Check an Existing Ring: It is important that the ring you look at is one they wear on their left-hand ring finger or the finger you intend for them to wear their new ring on, for accurate sizing. If they wear rings on this finger, you’re in luck. You can either measure its inside diameter against a ruler, or take it to a local jeweler to determine the size.
  • Ask Friends or Family: Your partner’s friends may already know their ring size, or they can make discreet inquiries without raising suspicion.
  • Compare with a Friend: If you know someone with a similar hand size, their ring size may be a good reference.

We recommend trying to get the size as close as possible when ordering a ring. Depending on the ring’s design, resizing to add or remove more than two sizes can be difficult or even impossible without re-making the ring. Some designs, like pave-style bands, may have even more limitations when it comes to resizing.

Finding Your Own Ring Size

If you are involved in the ring shopping process, or buying a ring for yourself, it is much easier to ensure you have an accurate size when ordering. All gem purchases ship with our complimentary ring sizing kit to help you determine your size.

Pro tip: The correct size should require just a little pressure to get it on and off your finger. It should not feel uncomfortably tight, nor should it feel loose enough to come off your finger unintentionally.

It is important to consider how your finger size fluctuates when choosing a ring size. Often, the most comfortable ring size feels just a tiny bit loose under normal conditions, so that it is not too tight if your finger ever swells.

Your ring size can change depending on a variety of factors, including:

  • Weather & Exercise: Fingers tend to swell in heat and shrink in the cold, which often affects how your ring fits.
  • Time of Day: Depending on your activity levels throughout the day, your finger size may fluctuate.
  • Diet & Hydration: Salt intake and hydration levels can cause temporary fluctuations in your finger size.
  • Knuckle Size: If you have larger knuckles, you may need a slightly looser fit to slide the ring on comfortably.

Your ring size can change depending on a variety of factors, including:

  • Wide Bands: Wider bands that take up more surface area on your finger will fit more snugly, so we recommend sizing up slightly for comfort. Band widths over 4mm are typically considered wide.
  • Knuckle Size:  If you have larger knuckles, you may need to size up to ensure the ring slides on and off easily. However, this can sometimes result in a looser fit or spinning once the ring is on. Sizing beads can help stabilize the ring and reduce spinning.
  • Comfort Fit vs. Standard Fit: Comfort fit bands have a beveled inside edge, allowing the ring to slip on and off your finger more easily and have a looser fit. Standard fit bands have a flat inner surface that lays snug against your finger.

We offer a full range of sizing and repair services for our jewelry. Rings valued over $5,000 are eligible for one complimentary resizing within the first six months of purchase.
