Description
This unheated Montana sapphire is a very uniquely colored stones. The overall shade of the gem from a regular viewing distance is a spruce green, but closer inspection reveals hints of blue and yellow-brown zoning in the gem. This sapphire is also a rare color-change gem. In incandescent light (second photo), the gem shows flashes of teal, blue, and purple. The gem is 100 percent natural and untreated in any way. It has very small inclusions that are quite difficult to see with the unaided eye from a normal viewing distance. There is a small patch of hazy brown rutile silk near the center of the gem, but it’s not objectionable and is proof positive of its unheated nature. The inclusions have been factored into the price, making this a great value for the size and color.
This sapphire was faceted in the United States in our “Serendipity” brilliant oval design and cut to high precision; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. It weighs 1.77 carats and measures 7.7 x 6.2 x 4.8 mm.
