This beautiful deep red rhodolite garnet is unusually large; it weighs 15.95 carats.

Description
This is an unusually large rhodolite garnet, and a beautiful deep red color. The gem can appear darker than this photo, depending on the lighting, but interestingly enough it performs very well in low light. The gem is 100 percent natural and untreated in any way. It has excellent clarity, making it bright and scintillating in the hand. There may be tiny inclusions that are visible only with a 10x loupe. There is also a moderate haze to the gem from fine needles of rutile silk that gives the gem a soft glow.
This garnet was personally faceted in the United States by Jeffrey Hapeman in a custom oval design and cut to high precision. The gem weighs 15.87 carats and measures 15.5 x 11.8 x 11.3 mm.
