Description
This unheated sapphire is a subtle color change gem that is very difficult to photograph: it’s a dark bluish violet under daylight (first photo), while under incandescent light, the color changes to a warmer dark purple (second photo). This is a very dark stone, and may look black in low light. The gem is 100 percent natural and untreated in any way. This sapphire was acquired directly from a reputable gem dealer; it is represented as being from east Africa. It has very small inclusions that are quite difficult to see with the unaided eye from a normal viewing distance. The inclusions have been factored into the price, making this a great value for the size and color.
The sapphire was faceted outside the United States in a classic oval design. It weighs 3.10 carats and measures 9.5 x 7.7 x 5.1 mm.
