Description
Tanzanite is the trade name for deep blue to blue-purple Zoisite that is found in only one location on the earth–the hills of Merelani, Tanzania. Most tanzanite has been heated to remove the orange-brown and greenish-yellow components and to turn the gem to a dark blue to purple-blue color. However, we prefer the natural mixed colors and pastel tones of unheated Tanzanite (sometimes called “Fancy Tanzanite” or “Fancy Zoisite”). This gem is 100 percent natural and untreated in any way.
This gem is a beautiful bluish violet purple. It has very small inclusions that are quite difficult to see with the unaided eye from a normal viewing distance. The inclusions have been factored into the price, making this a great value for the size and color.
This Tanzanite was faceted in the United States in a custom shield-shaped design and cut to high precision; the result is a glittering beauty of a gemstone. The gem weighs 3.33 carats and measures 12.8 x 7.2 x 4.8 mm.
